Review for: U.S. Post Office in Athens, GA

Communication at the U.S. Post Office on Hancock st. in Athens is impossible.

The U.S.Post Office officials in Athens, Ga. on Hancock street do not answer their phone after one week of calling. I moved to Statesboro, Ga. 30 days past and have not received any forwarded packages. I would appreciate their email address or fax number.

Major Complaint

i have lived at my adrress for almost a year and have had problems with my mail delivery ever since. They are never here on time and always past 5 pm and I have made several complaints to the office. Today the lady clearly put someone elses mail in my box and the other persons mailbox is directly beside mine. On many occassions they havent even delivered my mail. I have tried talking to their supervisor but it gets me nowhere. I am going to be forced to get a P.O. box from the post office down the street and have to pay for a service and the cost of my gas to insure that I get my mail. I am not happy at all!!!

awful

Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. The female clerk was extremely rude, interrupted me while I was asking questions, and called another customer to the counter while I was still asking her questions about a package. I'd rather pay at the UPS store then experience that absurdity ever again.

Disgruntled Patron

I went to this Post Office this morning July 10,2013 to track two separate packages I ordered June 2013. They just put the slips in the mailbox, they never try to deliver the packages. The Manager and workers are so rude. They either have a bad attitude or are not working. Early in the morning, we have to wait for their breakfast to be delivered to them before we can get them to wait on us. I know this because I was there when their food was delivered, they came from the back, nobody was at the front to work. The computers were down for a whole entire month only service available was to pick up packages. I was tracking two packages for one month before I decided to cancel my orders and get a credit on my account. One package was undeliverable. How was it undeliverable when it arrived at the post office at two different occasions from the same vendor. I never got a slip in the mail, the package went back to the vendor. It is now in Georgia, not Brooklyn.

HORRIBLE JUST HORRIBLE

This post office hardly ever answer the phone. This is ridiculous since I have a postman that leaves a notice in my box rather than deliver it to the front door like he is supposed to. I frequently receive registered international mail and it seems that every single time my postman fails to properly deliver it to me. I have to call the post office and request redelivery. Calling is worse part since I have to call at least 4 times back to back, let it ring until it disconnects before getting some agitated "postal" worker on the line. Postal in every sense of the "new meaning" for it!

JUST HORRIBLE!!!

The post office is very old, but a very beautiful building.

This office needs more than one phone number. It seems like you can never get an answer to a person. It is always busy. Recently, I tried for 4 days and still have not reached anyone because I'm getting a busy signal. Not sure if the phone is off the hook, which it almost seems like it could be the issue.

At this point, I'm thinking maybe Washington, DC main office to be notified in order to correct this issue or maybe get another number to this office.

Great Staff

I needed a new passport for my son and went to this branch because it happened to be the only post office, out of the three which I called, to answer their phone! The Brentwood facility in NE is much closer to my home but I spent 5 hours dialing them and NOBODY answered the phone! Here the staff are helpful, efficient and courteous – particularly the young woman who does the passports. Their professionalism puts staff from many other post offices in the DC area to shame.

Worst service

I was following my package via tracking website and I knew my package was on its way to be delivered yesterday. I made it a point to be home all morning so I could be sure to be there when it came because it was an important package. Not only did it never come but when I went to my mailbox, there was a, "Sorry we missed you" note! Missed me?? You never tried to come to my door! I called and was apologized to and asked if I wanted t redelivered or if I wanted to pick it up between 8am and noon. I said I'd pick it up since I was going to the gym. I got to the post office a quarter after 8 and it was closed. I had been misinformed and they don't open until 9am on Saturdays! Then I tried to call (after 9am) and ask if I could get it delivered since I had already been there and didn't want to pack my daughter up for a second trip. The guy whoa swerved the phone was SO rude. After a rude greeting, being short with me (all I did was ask if it were possible for them to still deliver it today), and him HANGING UP without any sort of parting words, I think it's safe to say I'm OVER that post office and I will avoid it at ALL COSTS.

Mail Pick-up Limited

The outside mailbox has only one pick-up time, Monday - Friday and that time is 4:45pm.

Pick-up this late in the day makes no sense to me. Why not have mail picked-up from the box in the morning; the currently schedule costs a day in delivery time. This is inefficient and seems not to be devised with the customer in mind. The USPS needs to be more customer oriented if it expects to survive.

Lazy, lazy, lazy

These are the world's laziest people. Mail truck in front of my house while I went outside to throw trash. Went to the mailbox and driver sped away. Found a delivery signature cconfirmation card. Had to go get my car and go after the mail truck. Pulled along side, blew horn and driver still wouldn't stop. Finally the truck stopped to deliver mail, I got out and went to driver and said, you saw me standing there and you still left. Not even to ring the doorbell for package delivery. Tried calling post office and no answer at 3:20 pm in the afternoon. They must be all asleep in the back. Is it any wonder the post office is going broke.

Just Terrible!

I tracked my package using their terrible website. First it said that the mail carrier left a notice at my business...which was a flat out lie. Secondly I went to the Chimney Rock location to pick it up and was told that the carrier scanned it as "left notice" to cover his ass. I called back the next day to see if it was there and was told that it was lost in the mail. A so called manager and an employee acted as if it was my fault that it was lost. Telling me to contact the person who sent it. Bad experience all the way around. Not to mention this is the second time within a year that a package was lost using the the sorry ass USPS.

Said you were the PO responsible. I have been TRYING TO CALL but no one answers. Called AZ Republic and this IS there PO Box. Also it took 17 days to get back to me.

They Don't Answer the Phone

Need I say more about customer service? Of course, this if after USPS website FAQ lost everything on bulk mail links and 1-800-ASK-USPS hung up on me after 15 minutes on voicemail. So what does that say about the the whole corporation's competent interface of customer service and customers? Back to FEDEX.

Telephone Diplomacy

A physically handicap elderly person phones this facility at 7715 Cottage Grove, to ask a question, and all is done is: 1) the phone is never answered, and 2) someone cleverly picks the phone up and hang the phone up, instead of serving the elderly customer. Why? This is sad, unacceptable, and one day, this facility will be kind to call-in customers. I pray for new management soon. This happens all the time.

Complaint

Dear Post Master

We recently received a new mail man in the community. Several residents have complained of getting the wrong mail in their mailboxes. In addition, some are waiting on confidential mail and have not received it; afraid that their personal information may be in the hands of someone else. Please take care of this issue immediately. Our residents are very upset and worried.

Answer the Phone!!!

I see why the US Post Office is falling the wayside. There is no sense of urgency with any of the workers. You cannot go there on your lunch break as it takes more than 45 minutes just to get seen. The ladies have an attitude and 9 times out of 10 there is only one line open. The other workers are just standing there staring at you. RIDICULOUS. In addition to that, you can NEVER reach the post office by phone. The phone stays busy. Just really piss poor customer service from start to finish.

Awful service

First of all, you cannot easily contact this office because most of the phone numbers you find are incorrect.

As an apartment community, this branch runs out of keys for the mailboxes and new residents have to wait prolonged periods just to get their mail. Can you imagine not getting your checks or new mail? When they do have keys, the residents need to put the key into any and every box till they find their box because the boxes are not labeled and their is no is no chart available to show ehre their box might be. I hope they can get it together!!!
