Only go for basic cuts
I have gone several times to get a bob haircut. That's pretty basic and turned out well. After deciding to grow it out, I went for a reshaping while it grows. My 'fringe' bangs were cut so short that they won't go over to the side like I'd been wearing them, and won't lie down. They mainly stick out like a cowlick. Embarrassing. The back needed shaped, but the stylist said she didn't want to do any layering. What??? I'd say go only for something very basic and don't expect help with anything outside of that box.
